Navy League Sea-Air-Space Exposition

Always on the move, General Digital sent its roving sales team, Tenell Rhodes and Brian Martin to the 2011 Navy League Sea-Air-Space Exposition in National Harbor, Maryland. The Exposition, which lasted from April 11^th through the 13^th, allowed General Digital to display its LCD monitors to fellow exhibitors as well as attendees. On display were several of our ruggedized LCDs: the 37″ Titan LCD monitor (ruggedized, and currently aboard Los Angeles- and Virginia-class submarines throughout the U.S. naval fleet); the 24″ Saber Standalone LCD monitor; the 17″ wide format TwoView dual LCD rack mount unit (a perennial crowd-pleaser); and the 8.4″ Barracuda sealed LCD monitor (completely submerged in our fully-decorated fish tank). New to the Exposition was our Dual 8.4″ Saber Rackmount, featuring two displays in a single 19″ rack mount enclosure.

As dazzling as the monitors are all by themselves, the energy of our booth was contagious. In addition to showing blockbuster movies on our vast array of LCD monitors, we set up shop with the PlayStation 3 with Move system on our 37″ Titan. Sports from the Sports Champions game, such as Gladiator Duel, Beach Volleyball, and Table Tennis, lured exhibitors and attendees to our booth in droves. Audience participation was at an all-time high as they lined up to play against their co-workers. PlayStation’s high-definition video output served well to showcase our monitor’s HD capability. Questions about ruggedization, customization, resolution, and other factors abounded as participants came into close contact with our flat panel displays. On numerous occasions, we were told that our booth was the best of the show.

Of course, when has General Digital been one to rest on its laurels? With the conclusion of the trade show, we packed up our monitors and visited customers in both Maryland and Virginia. We met with DRS Technologies, Raytheon, and systems engineers at SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic. These meetings afford us the opportunity to assess our performance on current programs that we serve as well as learn of new programs, which can benefit from our capabilities and expertise. Our customers found our visits highly informative and very beneficial; they seemed especially impressed with our large format, wide format, HD, LED, and LCD technology.
