SID Display Week 2014 Welcome Sign This year, the Society of Information Display (SID) Display Week International Symposium and Exhibition was held in sunshiny San Diego, June 3rd, 4th, and 5th. As the only trade show at which our Optical Bonding Laboratories exhibits, Jennifer (Director of OBL) prefers to impress with our best. Knowing that some of the biggest and brightest would be exhibiting there as well, we pulled out all the stops to demonstrate the breadth of optical enhancement solutions that OBL offers. John, our Inside Sales Manager, helped Jennifer run the booth and dazzle the attendees.

Video Wall Demonstrating High Brightness Displays, LED Backlights, NVIS Capability, and Multi-Touch TechnologyAlong for the show was a custom-crafted video wall illustrating OBL’s varied capabilities. The 6.4-inch high bright display boasted 1400-1500 nits of luminance, an eye-catcher by anyone’s standards. The two 19-inch displays on the wall told different stories. Our 19-inch GenStar display featured our new LED backlight, an upgrade that results in much lower power consumption and much longer life than its CCFL predecessor. The other 19-inch display, a custom high bright backlit solution, also boasts NVIS capability and is fully dimmable in both standard backlight and NVIS modes. Last, but certainly not least, was the 24-inch display with touch sensor. This touch screen registers up to twenty individual touches simultaneously, enabling advanced functionality such as pinching and zooming.

TwoView 2 - Dual Flip-Up LCD Monitor Keyboard in Transit CaseBut wait, there was more! Housed in a transit case were our 15-inch Rack Mount Hinge and our TwoView 2, the newest iteration of our 19-inch dual flip-up display with keyboard. Optical Bonding Laboratories brought these along to give attendees and exhibitors alike an idea of how General Digital can offer a complete solution from optical enhancements to enclosure options to meet a multitude of mounting configurations. And it proved to be a good move on their part: there was quite a bit of interest in the transit case exhibit. Another source of great interest were samples of various overlays that provided booth visitors with the opportunity to get up close and personal with the components that are involved in the construction of specialized displays.

Obviously, Booth 1907 was where the action was! From enhanced displays to rack mounted monitors and samples of actual optical enhancement products, Jennifer and John demonstrated the versatility of Optical Bonding Laboratories and, on a larger scale, the expertise of General Digital as a whole. We’re looking forward to next year’s show as an opportunity to showcase even more advances. See you in San José!
